This week the letter of the week was Ff-fun-/f/. The words of the week were for and from. We talked about words that started with the letter Ff and learned to print our new letter and words. The theme was Farm.
In Language we introduced our last word family: the -en family. Your child should now be able to read all of the words listed on the "Word Families" tab. The Kindergartners got to create their own farm book by sounding out the letters in the names of each farm animal, For journals, the students wrote a story about a farm picture.
In Math we continued talking about 3D shapes. By the end of the year, we all should be able to identify a sphere, cylinder, cone and cube. See if your child can recognize any of these shapes in his/her surroundings at home.
In Science and Social Studies, we learned about different animals that live on the farm and the sounds that they make. We used farm animals to create a class book called Old Mac Brown's Farm. The class also did an experiment with objects that could float or sink. On Friday we learned about St. Patrick's Day.
Next week the letter of the week will be Yy-yellow-/y/ and the words of the week will be he, she, yes and yellow. The theme will continue to be Farm.
