This week in Kindergarten we had a focus on insects and butterflies. Your Kindergartner should know the three body parts that all insects have. The children assembled their own insects and wrote sentences to introduce them to our class. Ask you Kindergartner if he/she can remember the three parts of an insect's body.

We learned about and sequenced the life cycle of a butterfly, and are even watching the butterflies in our classroom as they are changing through each life stage. They arrived to us as eggs, but can you Kindergartner tell you what stage they are in right now? It has been fun to predict and observe the changes happening with our butterflies.
Reading
The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle gave us the opportunity to practice again with time and we each created a page for a class book. Also, we introduced positional words by stamping a ladybug in, on, above, beside, or under the other objects in a picture.
We have been keeping a special secret for a few weeks now. Next Friday, the Kindergartners will prepare their Mother's Day gifts to finally go home. These gifts will be coming home with your child next Friday afternoon, all made with love to show appreciation for the special role our mom's play in our lives.
