December 10-14

Our Christmas theme continued this week. The letter of the week was Jj-jug-/j/, and the words of the week were at and or. We practiced printing and reading with our new letter and words.

In Language the class reviewed the two word families we have learned: the -an and -at family. We read the story Jack and the Beanstalk, and the kindergartners practicing sequencing the story in six parts. For journals, the children wrote about snow and what they like to do in the snow. The class also learned about the question mark and how change their voice when reading a question sentence.

In Math we worked more with ten frames. The class also made a string of Christmas lights and used them to practice printing numerals 10-19. Keep an eye out for reversed symbols or numerals (i.e. 13=31) when your child is practicing at home.

The kindergartners also did some Christmas preparations by wrapping gifts and labeling cards for our special guests next week. :)

Next week the theme will continue to be Christmas. It will be a review week for our letters and core words. Remember, our Christmas program is coming up on Wednesday, December 19 at 12:00 in the MAES gymnasium. Also, make sure to have a gift wrapped and at school by Wednesday for our gift exchange on Friday.
